You’ve shown me I’ve been living in a dream, and it’s time to return to real life.

Cora Crawley: I was worried about Lady Sybil, but I’m not worried any more.
Mr. Carson: So you don’t mind, my lady?
Cora Crawley: No. I do not mind. I am very grateful to you. And Carson, the cake will be a surprise whether you approve or not, so please don’t give me away.
— Downton Abbey (2x01)
Can we just talk about this scene for a second? I’ve never been so emotional about watching someone watch someone else bake a cake. Cora Crawley is so proud of her daughter that she is literally glowing. She knows that Sybil is not afraid and, in many ways, that makes her the most mature of her daughters, even though she is the youngest. Sybil can do anything and in this moment, I think Cora realizes her daughter is destined for things she could only ever dream of because she is baking a cake. FEELINGS!!! THIS SHOW. IT HURTS.
